Humans have been using gemstones as amulets and healing jewelry for hundreds of years. Is there any scientific fact to prove that gemstones can heal, or is it just a myth? Lets looks at some scientific findings so that you can make your own conclusion on this.... READ MORE HERE
“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” ~ Nikola Tesla, 1942 (Nikola Tesla's work from the 1930's has been utilized in the wireless technology we use every day, today. He made many wonderful contributions to science and to the betterment of humanity.)
Everything has an Electro Magnetic Field (EMF)- humans, the earth, gemstones, your food, everything. Depending on how much electrical charge a thing has, conductivity, or non-conductivity an object has, can change the type of frequency or vibration it has.
Each basic element of the known atomic chart consists of energy at different rates of vibration. When certain elements of the periodic table combine with each other in the earth, they create minerals- which is what we call "gemstones". You could say that each gemstone has different vibrations because of the elements that make it. Gemstones are particularly different from other objects because they are purely made of elements/minerals and nothing else. Rocks consist of more than just minerals so they are different in this way. Each gemstone has a chemical formula- like SiO2. (which is quartz).
This article talks about how the smallest particle found, called a String, vibrates, and they all have their own natural resonant frequencies: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/resonance.html
Here is the Wiki definition of Vibration:
Vibration: Sound is a traveling longitudinal wave which is an oscillation of pressure. Humans perceive frequency of sound waves as pitch. Each musical note corresponds to a particular frequency which can be measured in hertz. An infant's ear is able to perceive frequencies ranging from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz; the average adult human can hear sounds between 20 Hz and 16,000 Hz. The range of ultrasound, high-intensity infrasound and other physical vibrations such as molecular vibrations extends into the megahertz range and well beyond. - Wikipedia
How do Gems Protect Us From EMF?
Gemstones offer a way to strengthen your own natural frequencies so that potentially the EMFs in your environment do less damage to you. Humans vibrate because we have slight currents of electricity running through us. This creates an electro-magnetic field (EMF) of our own. Each person has their own unique vibration/frequency that their body produces. (This can change depending on what the person is thinking, feeling or doing.) Gemstones also produce a vibration of their own- depending on what type of radiation they were exposed to in the earth, the elements they are made out of, etc. So the frequencies of the gemstones, and the frequencies of your body can "harmonize" or resonate with each other and therefore strengthen that persons "bio-field" against man made radiation. Since it is hard to scientifically measure what might help "harmonize" a persons EMF- since it always changes- it is necessary to listen to what your body wants or to pray about it. Some people use "muscle testing" to ask the body what it needs (energetically). What do you think?
There have been scientific experiments that prove meridians in the body.
There are lesser known experiments that have been done that show that the meridians of the body are actually small electrical currents. The Chinese made a map of these currents centuries ago- and they called them Meridians. These Meridians are used in Acupuncture, Acupressure and other Chinese Medicine or Energetic practices. Nerves operate with small electrical charges that go between your brain and your body. Every single muscle in your body is innervated in order for you to move. Pure blood in itself has a current and is a conductor for electricity too! Where there is blood, there is electricity, movement and life!
Six Meridians go Through the Wrist
There are six Meridians that go through the wrist and they run through the upper half of the body. This includes the chest, shoulders, neck, arms, and hands. What would happen if you wore a magnetic bracelets or a semi conductive gemstone bracelet on your wrist or even around your neck? Would there be an effect on the meridians there? Many gems are Conductive, Magnetic, and Semi-Conductive. Some noble metals are conductive (especially silver and copper). This is the theory of how some people are helped by wearing copper bracelets. To learn more about Copper, read THIS post.
What is EMF?
This acronym stands for Electro Magnetic Field. You can interchange Field with Radiation because they mean the same thing. So, EMR =EMF. Anything that is electrical has a small EMF around it.
A Hertz is a unit of length measuring from the crest of one wave or oscillation to the crest of the next one. Both vibration (sound) and waves of radiation are measured in Hertz.
Electromagnetic radiation is often described by its frequency (EMF)—the number of oscillations of the perpendicular electric and magnetic fields per second—expressed in hertz.- Wikipedia
Cell Phones operate in the Radio and Microwave Spectrum
Here is a diagram of the electromagnetic spectrum. The low frequency, long waves are very big- as big as the earth! And the small gamma rays are smaller than what we can see. Microwaves are around 12cm. None of these waves we can see except the spectrum of light. These waves all have electric and magnetic fields. When we say the term "EMF" we are mostly referring to waves in the microwave and radiowave spectrum. Waves above the color spectrum are known to be obviously dangerous- they are called "ionizing" waves. The rays below the color spectrum are called "non-ionizing". These waves are not so obviously dangerous and their safety is controversial.
Can Gemstones Heal People?
It is hard to scientifically test the way gemstones work and the scientists in America are not currently interested in doing so. The field of science that might study gemstones is called Quantum Physics and this area of study has yet to be integrated into the medical field. Energy medicine is not mainstream in our culture, although it is getting more popular as time goes on and science advances. In America, we mostly rely on science focused on the way the body works chemically; not electrically, energetically or spiritually- even though the latter three are apart of the healing process. Some forms of energy healing you may know of are: acupuncture, acupressure, reiki, cranio-sacral therapy, most methods of body-work, and some chiropractors use energy medicine. Wearing gemstones is an ancient practice that can, in a very subtle and gentle way, help ones energetic health.
How to Choose Gemstone Jewelry
The most important part of choosing jewelry for your health is to make sure that your gemstones are as natural as possible. A piece of glass, plastic or resin imitating a real stone will give you different results- if any at all. Make sure to ask your jeweler where the gemstone is from and if it has been altered. Gems can be treated and still be called "Genuine". Certain gemstones are heated to such hot temperatures in order to brighten their color and burn off impurities, that their crystalline structure can be melted and turned into glass. You don't want to be wearing glass and thinking that it is a gemstone! Glass does not have the crystalline molecular lattice, which is important.
Is Black Tourmaline the Best Stone for EMF Protection?
Many websites will list Black Tourmaline as one of the best stones to protect against EMF. Why is this? From what I have researched, the reasons people may say this, are based on the metaphorical properties believed about the stone. Before EMF's were a concern, Black Tourmaline was always used for protection and grounding- metaphorically speaking. The color black was said to absorb bad energy and this "rule" was applied to all black gemstones. It may not be too far from the truth since black absorbs the suns heat radiation more than the color white does.... But scientifically, we can compare gemstones by looking at its chemical formula. Black Tourmaline contains a long list of elements: Sodium, Calcium, Magnesium, Aluminum, Lithium, Iron, Silicon Dioxide, Boron and Hydroxides. This chemical formula may be great for many people to guard against EMF- others it may not. For others, a different stone may help more. Certain elements in a gemstones chemical formula are conductive and may draw the body's electric current. Many gemstones have copper in them: like Turquoise! A popular healing stone. Did you know Garnet and Serpentine are drawn to a (neodymium) magnet? Since each gemstone is unique, as well as each human body- pray or use your intuition as to which one might suit you best. This can change slightly day to day. I enjoy choosing from an assortment of gemstone jewelry every morning.
